Omschrijving

Nijhuis Saur Industries provides solid and adaptive solutions for sustainable and resilient water use, energy and resource recovery for industries around the world. Our product portfolio covers a wide range of water treatment technologies and water technology services. Our purpose is to be an advocate for water, ensuring everyone gives water the value it deserves. We protect water resources, contribute to the water- energy- and foodtransition and help to restore and close the water loop. As process designers and environmental engineers, we are constantly looking to provide our clients with the most optimal water treatment solutions. Increasingly, our business cases are not merely based on technical and economic criteria but involve an overall environmental perspective.

Luuk Hebinck (Intern R&D): ”I am working on the recovery of ammonium and carbonate ions from wastewater using electrodialysis to eventually produce the salt ammonium bicarbonate which can be used as fertilizer or nitrogen feedstock. I am proud of the fact that the results I obtained in the laboratory helped the project move forward and that my work has therefore been useful for Nijhuis.

YOUR GOAL

The goal of this internship is to establish a methodology based on life cycle analysis (LCA), which allows us to incorporate the environmental impact of our solutions in design decisions and system selection. We know how to treat (waste)water and reduce the environmental impact of discharge, but how do we do it at the lowest environmental cost? The internship will involve assessing the environmental impact of actual design cases as well as setting up an LCA-model and linking this to our product portfolio.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Working in NSI will give you the space to grow in a specific topic and find out how a big organization works with very different departments and disciplines for one final goal: To implement optimal Water technology solutions for different industries!

  • Experience (finished course) with LCA (software) is a requirement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
