In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in micropollutant removal and a growing public awareness and concern for micropollutants. While conventional methods have proven to be effective for the removal of most wastewater pollutants, a selected class of pollutants such as medicines, microplastics, pesticides and hormonal molecules are not or only partially removed. Ozonation and other oxidation technologies are applied as chemical free wastewater treatment to remove medicines and micropollutants from wastewaters.
Goal and activities
The goal of this internship or graduation project is to develop and optimize our oxidation installation for the removal of medicines from wastewater. The internship project will be carried out by performing a series of laboratory and pilot experiments to find the optimal operational conditions and process design. Furthermore, an estimation of the investment and running costs will be investigated based on the experiments for these different systems.
